Description
The Ceylon ebony used here comes from Sri Lanka and South India and reaches a height of approximately 15-25 m with a trunk diameter of 0.3-0.6 m. The dark gray to blackish-gray bark is rough to shallowly fissured, the wood itself deep black with yellowish-white sapwood. At around 915 kg/m³, it is exceptionally dense, very stiff, and rather brittle; the fine, glossy grain allows for precise work but requires sharp tools and great care.
Ebony is among the most resolute materials of all. Dark in appearance, clear in its will, and exceptionally powerful, it tolerates neither half-heartedness nor the expectations of others. It seeks personalities who forge their own path and remain true to themselves even under pressure. Independence is not merely an ornament here, but a prerequisite for a stable bond that is not sustained by approval or external circumstances. It often finds its wearers who are prepared to act against resistance and consistently stand up for their convictions. This inner strength is directly reflected in magic. Ebony responds directly to clarity of purpose and noticeably loses quality when uncertainty or pressure to conform dictates its leadership. It demands not perfection, but consistency and a clear inner vision. Its most pronounced expressions lie in dueling, transformation, and power; it is precisely there that this material reveals its full potential. In direct conflict, it works swiftly, precisely, and without hesitation. Spells take effect clearly and immediately, with an assertiveness that leaves little room for correction. Decisions are implemented, not negotiated. Especially in tense situations, this creates a form of control that doesn't need to be built up first.

Ebony displays an equally pronounced quality in transformation. Forms are held firmly, transitions are smoothly executed, and complex structures are reliably implemented. Its strength lies not in effects, but in precision and consistency. Even demanding changes remain controllable and clear under its guidance.

In the right hand, it becomes a wand of great authority. Ebony doesn't make a loud impression, but it is unambiguous. Its strength lies in consistency and presence. It represents a form of magic that doesn't adapt, but prevails – driven by a clear will and a stable inner resolve.
