Description
The bay laurel is native to the Mediterranean region and reaches a height of approximately 7-20 m with trunk diameters of up to around 1 m. Its bark is finely fissured and becomes distinctly cracked with age, dark grey, while the wood appears yellowish to olive-brown. With a density of approximately 620-700 kg/m³, it is moderately elastic and finely textured, easily worked, but requires thorough drying due to its relatively low dimensional stability.
Laurel wood carries the scent of both ambition and honor. It is a wood that demands achievement and expects progress. It responds strongly to determination and is drawn to personalities who pursue their own standards and are prepared to implement them even in the face of resistance. Laurel is not merely ambitious, but clearly bound to an inner understanding of integrity. It displays an unusually strong loyalty to its first bearer and remains true to this bond as long as attitude and commitment persist. This bond is active: it protects itself and can decisively reject any attempt at appropriation by others. Its nature manifests in strong loyalty, high difficulty, pronounced power, and clear, direct guidance of magic. Laurel demands consistent application. Those who slacken noticeably lose control. It tolerates no inertia and is sensitive to a lack of effort. In steady hands, however, its power grows with the experience of its bearer. It unfolds a remarkable clarity, especially in precisely guided, even non-verbal, magic. Spells take effect quickly and directly, without unnecessary scattering. The effect remains controlled, even at high intensity, and can be reliably repeated. This combination of control and assertiveness makes it a demanding yet extremely effective tool.
At the same time, laurel remains bound by its own limitations: it resists dishonorable actions. This limitation is not a flaw, but part of its very structure. It demands not only skill, but also bearing.
In the right bond, a wand of great reliability and clear focus is created. Laurel rewards dedication, protects its connection, and develops a power that keeps pace with the demands of its wielder.
