Description
The Snallygaster is an unusual, dragon-like creature from North American legends, described as having sharp beaks and tentacle-like structures. Its appearances are rare and often accompanied by sudden attacks. Its behavior appears aggressive and unpredictable. It attacks quickly and retreats just as rapidly, without any discernible pattern. The proximity of this material to the heart results in intense, difficult-to-control magic. It is powerful but erratic and demands clear direction from the user. Without this, it can act indiscriminately or even backfire.
Snallygaster material doesn't work consistently, but rather in fluctuating patterns. The magic is intense and takes effect quickly, often with considerable force, making it particularly powerful in duels. Spells act immediately and forcefully, but don't always achieve the desired precision. Its low stability is evident in the fact that results can vary, even with comparable guidance. In practice, this means that while the effect is present, it isn't reliably reproducible. Healing applications are correspondingly limited due to a lack of necessary control. In areas like transfiguration and charms, performance is average, but remains heavily dependent on the quality of the guidance. Nonverbal magic works exceptionally well, as the magic reacts quickly to inner impulses, but also transmits them unchecked. This material is demanding to handle and offers little in the way of a bond. Loyalty is minimal; a firm connection is difficult to establish, so constant guidance is essential. The temperament is clearly noticeable and manifests in rapid, sometimes abrupt, reactions. Magic immediately picks up on impulses, amplifies them, and can also drift in undesirable directions if no clear direction is established. The increased affinity for darker applications is evident in the fact that these are particularly easy to wear and often appear more stable than other uses. Overall, this results in a core material that doesn't balance but rather amplifies: it delivers a powerful effect at the right moment, but requires guidance that allows no room for uncertainty.
